They're unlike any other band I've ever seen or heard and are insanely underrated. I hope you enjoy this band as much as I do! I've been listening for years and have been lucky to catch them a few times in concert. Methodrone has a few great tracks (She's Gone, That Girl Suicide, Evergreen) but isn't their best. Bringing it All Back Home is countryish fun. We Are the Radio is more of a collaboration and has a different sound but it's fantastic. Definitely approach with an open mind.Īlong the way feel free to sprinkle in the EPs at most anytime. This album is nuts and it took me a long time to get into but now it's one of my favorites. The newer albums are all good and could probably be listened to next. It's one of those albums where you discover something every time you listen. This is probably their best album though you wouldn't think so if you listened to it first. I highly recommend Their Satanic Majesties Second Request after becoming familiar with BJM. If you're not ready for that check out Strung Out in Heaven instead. The music is great but you can definitely hear a difference in the production quality. Then go back to their early days with Space Girl & Other Favorites and Thank God for Mental Illness. Its pretty flawless and alternates between excellent rock and sentimental slower songs. Next I'd go with either Bravery, Repetition, and Noise or Give It Back! While still accessible these albums feature a couple experimental-ish songs which is one of my favorite things about BJM. Take It From the Man is probably their most accessible album. It's pretty flawless and alternates between excellent rock and sentimental slower songs. ![]() Take It From the Man! is probably their most accessible album. It's a great collection and a good overview of their early-mid work. This may be a good introduction and jumping off point for anyone interested in BJM. ![]() ![]() You have the option of starting with Tepid Peppermint Wonderland which is a double album of their greatest hits. BJM's discography is vast and can be daunting especially since some albums won't appeal to first-time listeners right away.
